SEVEN DAUGHTERS OF EVE
The Seven Daughters of Eve is a book by Bryan Sykes which explores the
theory of mitochondrial genetics.
By studying ancient DNA from our prehistoric
anscestors he suggests that all humans are genetically decended through
a maternal link from a common anscestor, the Mitochonical Eve.
The differences in human appearance and skin colour etc... are due to seven haplogroups made from mutations in the common DNA. These seven 'Clan Mothers' are groups are defined by a set of Characteristic mutations on the mitocgrobdial genome. the seven daughters of eve and are named.
